  The English curriculum integrates four essential language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. In order to strengthen students’ language proficiency, school-based reading and writing curriculum have been developed.

 

  To encourage our students to learn beyond the class, library lessons, blended learning, e-learning and project-based learning are also our foci of the subject development. Values Education and Self-directed learning are also promoted in the English lessons.

 

  We aim to provide a joyful learning environment for our students to foster their interest in learning English. Students can learn English in a language-rich environment through active participation in meaningful and interesting activities, such as Sayings of Wisdom activities and Joyful Christmas, by which the four essential language skills are effectively applied and integrated.

 

  Moreover, various school English teams are organized to further equip students with better English communication skills. Students are encouraged to participate in different types of competitions, such as Speech Festival and Drama Festival, not only to broaden their horizons with higher English proficiency but also fully develop their potential.

 

  A bridging course has been developed to assist P.1 students to have a better transition from kindergarten to primary school. A pressure-free English Course with Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment has been adopted for P.1 students to further develop their interests in learning English.
